Ascension Day morrocan breakfast @ cafe Moors

We've been a few times at Moors to eat moroccan delicacies or just drink mint tea. This time we've had a proper moroccan breakfast: a bowl of Harira soup, eggs Khlea which is an omelette with preserved beef, Harcha (semolina pancake), Melwi (puff pancake with honey), different sauces to complement and mint tea. Certainly different and probably unique in Helsinki.

Turkish breakfast delight - Cafe Sabich

Back in october 2022, we ventured in Kontula to try a Syrian restaurant (see message below "Real Deal"). After that lunch, while strolling among the many ethnic restaurants, cafe and shops in the subway area, we did notice a turkish cafe -  "Cafe Sabich", who looked particulary interesting because 1. it was full of customers, which is always a good sign, and 2. because it does turkish breakfast. So, a few weeks ago, we decided to have a go and try it. For 9,50€ you get an omelette with turkish spicy sausage, turkish yogurt seasoned with spices, 3 different kind of cheeses, boiled egg, turkish cold cuts (beef salami & chicken kinda mortadella), tomatoes, cucumber, olives, butter, jams, turkish bread and tea. We did finnish the breakfast with a strong turkish coffee. At that price, you get an incredible value for money as the meal was full of flavors with fresh ingredients, a very friendly service and a super clean place. Easily on par with most breakfast you can find in city center and/or hotels, and at a fraction of a price. One last thing, they do breakfast all day long!

Breakfast @ Ikea Vantaa

So, breakfast at Ikea... bad idea? Well, if you look only at the price, it's a rather good one.
On the other hand, if you look at the quality... well, you probably not gonna get organic food or freshly made scramble eggs. But overall, the food is not bad. Far from it actually. Plus, you can pile up food on your plate till the ceiling. So, breakfast at Ikea...

… Hell yeah!!

These pies & cakes come as extras (not included in the breakfast package).

Same for the open sandwiches (smørrebrøds in Denmark). Costs extra €€€

Porridge & frankfurters.

Omelettes & fried bacon

Breads

Veggies, ham (cheese & hard boiled eggs not on the pic)

Pancakes, cinnamon & cheese rolls come as extras

Breakfast looking rather engaging.
(machines for latte, capuccino, moccachino, etc.. and at will)

Breakfast @ Scandic Continental Hotel 5.5.2013

Saila came back from the airport at 7.30am this morning, and surprise... starving!
So, we decided to have our breakfast at Scandic Continental (Mannerheimintie 46)
rather than home. Being regular guests at Scandic hotels in Europe, we know that the quality/price ratio at Scandic is always good. Good place for a weekend breakfast.

cold meats and fish

cheeses, fruits and yoghurt

fresh vegetables

cereals

breads and danish pastries

If like us you're a Scandic fidelity card holder, you get a 20% discount on breakfast during the weekend. At 13€/pers. this meal is a real bargain compared to other breakfast places in town - Fazer or Ekberg to name a few.
(for your info, the Crown Plaza just beside the Scandic charges 23€/pers. for what looks like an inferior breakfast package - but they do eggs on demand the way you want.)
