I've always been curious about wines. It's probably down to a french thing. And you really need a good dose of curiosity to fork out money in a wine you don't know. Even more so when it comes from Japan - sake yes, but wine? So when in Alko earlier today facing this japanese wine with the name "Curious", I couldn't resist. I had to buy and try it, despite the fact I usually never buy a wine without a minimum of knowledge about it. Even less so when the bottle comes with a metallic cork - I'm a traditionalist. But sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. And in a way, my blind faith has been rewarded. The wine is very dry, acidic, mineral, with a strong lemony accent. Probably not a good idea to drink on itself. But if you combine it with spicy food, then, it becomes quite interesting, acting like a palate cleanser. So, the question was, what to eat with it?
*ding ding ding*... Thai frozen food!
It was a double first for us: 1st japanese wine, 1st thai cube (the spiciest we could find, with added fresh coriander - but for spices veterans like us, it wasn't very spicy). And surprisingly, the wine and the cubes worked well together. So, double blind faith well rewarded.
