Restaurant Rivoli

For a many years now, we've been interested in Rivoli restaurant. Finally we decided to have a go for the New Year's Eve dinner. The restaurant's interior Paris bistro-style (or Art Nouveau) is very cozy. The atmosphere is quiet and welcoming.

Harmillista, ettei tätä ravintolaa ole tullut ajateltua silloin kun on pohtinut ravintolavaihtoehtoja.

Saila took the Tasting Menu (bouillabaisse, dim-sums, wild duck, cheese & Sambuca crême brulée for 54€) while I chose the "à la Carte", in order to be able share courses. We were made to wait a little for the first course, but it was worthwhile. Special mention is for the "Dim Sums" - steamed dumplings stuffed with tiger prawns, pork & soy sauce". Just a-ma-zing!
After Dim Sums we were ready to continue with Blini with vendace roe, red onion and sour cream - so tasty!

Dim Sums

Dim Sumit ja soijapohjanen kastike olivat aah, niin hyviä!

 Sole Meunière

Then a " Sole Meunière" perfectly cooked and very very tasty. You couldn't eat a better one in France! Wine list is short but packed with good to great bottles (we chose a bottle of Chassagne Montrachet 2006)

Sambuca crême brulée

Overall, each course was well prepared, using the freshest ingredients, and offering distinctive tastes. The impeccable and utterly professional service is second to none
Quite often in Helsinki restaurants, music is way too loud. Luckily in Rivoli, jazz-blues was quietly played in the background. Probably more expensive than your average restaurant, we nonetheless highly recommand it.

Miljöö oli viihtyisä, tarjoilijat ammattitaitoisia. Musiikki soi hiljaisella taustalla. Useimmissa ravintoloissa se soi aivan liian kovalla. Hyvä ravintola ei tarvitse musiikkia tunnelmanluojaksi.
